I remember very well the word given
to me by God when I started working after college "Do
you see a man skilled in his work? he will serve before kings, he will
not serve before obscure men" Proverbs 22:29
Recently I was reflecting of the parable of Jesus about the talents Luke 19:12-28. About a master who went on a journey and left talents to his workers; he left 5 talents to the most able work, 2 talent to the less able worker and a talent to the least able worker. The parable goes on that the most hardworking worker was able to double the talent while the lazy one decided to bury the talent and give it to his master as intact as he gave it to him. Something ticked into my mind! After all God has given talent to every person in the earth, some big and others small. We christian think and translate this parable to mean spiritual gifts in service of the church members. For a long time I have had this version of interpretation to this parable. I now believe it applies to everyday life and moreso to individual careers and abilities. This is where spiritual matters meet with someone occupation. Many people will be disappointed in heaven when they realise that it is not more of what they did in church or for church than as much they did in their careers that will be counted in heaven.
The book of revelation displays a picture of Jesus returning with recompense in His hand to pay every one according to their work Revelation 22:12. Now I understand what will be paid - mostly is what you did at your work place!!!!!
